Syracuse, New York - The Civil Air Patrol recently relocated their
headquarters to Syracuse Hancock International Airport in the space
previously occupied by a former concessionaire company. The Syracuse Cadet
Squadron is now located in the upper level of Terminal A across form Market
Express south.
The Civil Air Patrol (C.A.P.) cadet squadron is located pre-security,
allowing a unique public relations opportunity. Now passengers and
interested community members can easily strike up a conversation with a CAP
cadet or officer and find out more about their incredible volunteer
organization. Many U.S. citizens have not heard of Civil Air Patrol, nor are
they aware of the three core missions: Cadet Programs, Aerospace Education,
and Emergency Services. Placing the Syracuse Cadet Squadron at the airport
provides a way to accomplish both Cadet Programs and Aerospace Education and
a place to train for Emergency Service response.
"I would like to thank Christina Callahan and the Airport Staff for their
work and charitable attitude toward C.A.P. As a volunteer organization we
are dependent upon donations of time, talent and resources and the Syracuse
Airport has been very generous in all three of those areas. They have given
the cadets of NY-135 a place to meet, train and learn." - LtCol, Dean "Norm"
Anderson, CAP, CNY Group Commander,
The Syracuse Airport is an ideal location for an organization that has its
heritage rooted in aviation. Civil Air Patrol, as the U.S. Air Force
Auxiliary, dates back to just prior to World War II and the homeland defense
volunteers who flew aircraft searching for possible intrusions into the U.S.
The Civil Air Patrol cannot function without places for their planes and
personnel. The Syracuse Airport puts the cadets close to those roots. For
C.A.P. members, and especially the cadets, being able to just look out the
window and see the aircraft and personnel tied to the aviation industry is a
great way to get them interested in future careers in flight, engineering
and other associated occupations.
"This is a very exciting time for members of NY-135. We are very grateful to
Executive Director Christina Callahan as to her insight of the benefits that
Civil Air Patrol's cadet programs can give to the community. We can now
expand our programs including, aerospace education, orientation flights,
glider flights, information technology, emergency services, leadership and
character development." Capt. Robert J. Woodruff, Jr. commented. "I would
like to thank Director Callahan and acknowledge the efforts of CFO Trent
Amond and Aerospace Project Manager Brian Dorman in getting us through the
transitional details. I would also like to express how helpful and attentive
the Airport Staff have been during our move and in the first weeks in our
new HQ."
"We are very excited to be the new home of the Syracuse Cadet Squadron of
the Civil Air Patrol," said Christina Callahan, Executive Director. "Not
only is the Civil Air Patrol a critical component of our system of support
agencies during an emergency, it also provides young men and women an
opportunity to get involved in aviation, and to give back to their
community."

PAVIX: Proven Winner for All Airport Concrete Infrastructure
International Chem-Crete Corporation (ICC) manufactures and sells PAVIX, a unique line of crystalline waterproofing products that penetrate into the surface of cured concrete to fill and seal pores and capillary voids, creating a long lasting protective zone within the concrete substrate.
Once concrete is treated, water is prevented from penetrating through this protective zone and causing associated damage, such as freeze-thaw cracking, reinforcing steel corrosion, chloride ion penetration, and ASR related cracking.
This white paper discusses how the PAVIX CCC100 technology works and its applications.
