Travelers in Concourse D and Baggage Claim gain access to Urban Market and Starbucks®
SEATTLE — Global restaurateur HMSHost and joint venture partner Heigh Connects LLC have been awarded a 10-year contract to operate two new Urban Markets and two new Starbucks® stores at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. These new locations will give travelers in Concourse D and the pre-security Baggage Claim area of the airport the convenience of fresh sandwiches, salads, and handy market items with Urban Market alongside the traditional coffeehouse experience they love at Starbucks®.
“Having access to world-class food and drink options is important to travelers in all areas of an airport and HMSHost is very excited to expand the availability of Starbucks beverages and food as well as our own Urban Market to meet the demands of travelers in Sea-Tac Airport,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Stephen Douglas. “Heigh Connects LLC will be an instrumental part of implementing these new options and we thank them for their partnership.”
HMSHost opened the first Starbucks ® airport location more than 25 years ago in Sea-Tac Airport and has since been a leading licensing partner of the brand with nearly 400 locations in travel venues today.

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
