Telford, United Kingdom (May 9, 2023) – AVIRAMP, a UK-based manufacturer of passenger boarding ramps and bridges to airports around the world, is celebrating its 10th year in business with the sale of six units to Roland Garros Airport on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean – the same airport which purchased the very first AVIRAMP produced.
“This order is a true testament to our product line as the original ramp is still performing well for the airport a full decade after installation,” says Terri Smart, global sales and marketing director for AVIRAMP. “It substantiates that our boarding ramps and bridges are low-maintenance and still in good working order.”
The most recent order includes three solar-powered international units which will further streamline operations for the airport while also being environmentally friendly and sustainable. Manufacturing and delivery will take place this year.
AVIRAMP continues to scale up operations in the post-Covid world with substantial orders from airports in the US, New Zealand and Africa, says Smart.
Smart notes that the range of motorized mobile passenger boarding ramps and bridges are available in diesel or solar. “These bridges deliver faster turnarounds with a proven 30% faster deplaning process, as highlighted by independent airport trials,” she says. “And they improve safety by eliminating falls from steps.”
Smart adds that the products deliver cost savings by reducing the need for ambulift and expensive maintenance programs, not to mention it being a one-person operation. “AVIRAMP also offers a seamless, all-inclusive passenger experience for everyone, including greater dignity for passengers with reduced mobility.”

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
