Sacramento County Board of Supervisors Approves Recommendations for Concessions Contract
February 6, 2024 (Sacramento, CA) – Later this year travelers will start to notice the unveiling of new food and beverage options throughout the Sacramento International Airport (SMF).
The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously today to approve the recommendations for new food and beverage options at SMF. The contracts represent thirteen new food options, which will replace or upgrade existing facilities in phases beginning in 2024.
“This vote puts in motion a transformation of our food landscape at SMF,” said Sacramento County Department of Airports Director Cindy Nichol. “This process was thoughtful, informed by extensive outreach, then well-executed. We are proud of the number of proposals we received. Our new dining options will reflect the amazing culinary culture of Sacramento. And we hope this further enhances what makes SMF such a beloved airport.”
Beginning in 2023, SMF surveyed travelers and met with nearly 200 different businesses while setting industry-ambitious goals for small business and Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) representation. Survey results indicated health, affordability, and choice of cuisine were high priorities for travelers. The new food options will begin to open in late summer.
Travelers will see local brands like Bawk!, Café Bernardo, Magpie, Midtown Spirits, Nixtaco and Temple Coffee. And regional small purveyors like West Coast Sourdough, Sidewalk Juice, and Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen + Bar will also have locations in both terminals
“We are proud to say we have exceeded our goals with 38 percent of our new vendors being ACDBE and 44 percent small businesses,” said Sacramento County Department of Airports Concessions Manager Andrew Durkee. “We have multiple women-owned businesses recommended. This represents some of the top results in the country for a solicitation of this kind.”

PAVIX: Proven Winner for All Airport Concrete Infrastructure
International Chem-Crete Corporation (ICC) manufactures and sells PAVIX, a unique line of crystalline waterproofing products that penetrate into the surface of cured concrete to fill and seal pores and capillary voids, creating a long lasting protective zone within the concrete substrate.
Once concrete is treated, water is prevented from penetrating through this protective zone and causing associated damage, such as freeze-thaw cracking, reinforcing steel corrosion, chloride ion penetration, and ASR related cracking.
This white paper discusses how the PAVIX CCC100 technology works and its applications.
