RFID technology for tracking baggage

RFID Baggage Solutions: Let's Talk About the Facts and the Best Way Forward

RECORDED: Wednesday, October 16th, 2019 at 10:00 am EDT

Use of RFID technology for tracking baggage has evolved steadily during the past four years, deployed system-wide by a major legacy US airline, adoption at more airports, and a resounding vote of confidence at the recent IATA AGM in June, 2019. RFID was selected as the ideal technology by the IATA membership for future bag tags because it has been demonstrated to improve read rates which lead to large reductions in baggage mishandling, thereby removing lost baggage and its associated costs.

This seminar sets the record straight regarding RFID bag tags. What's true, what's not true, what are the best ways to deploy the technology, and what components are necessary. These are the issues which deserve additional clarity, and the webinar panel will address the assumptions that have been in place for years, and leave the attendee with the facts.

Mark Summers from Avery Dennison and Tom Gebler from SICK, Inc. will tackle these questions and others in: RFID Baggage Solutions: Let's Talk About the Facts and the Best Way Forward.

Leveraging Technology Throughout the Airport SMS Lifecycle

AGATI

RECORDED: Thursday, September 7th, 2017 at 11:00 am EDT

Most airport layouts were designed when passengers played cards while waiting for a flight because an onboard meal was an expectation and the very idea of a smartphone would have been laughable.

What was once a mess of beam seating everywhere now has a multi-function use: part lounge, part cafe, part office and a wealth of amenities. New uses of spaces as well as new types of furniture are finding their way into the airport because today's passenger is really focused on getting to point B rather than the journey itself. Airport design and furniture elements have a stronger impact on the passenger experience than one may realize. There's the comfort. The durability. The usability.

Matt Dubbe from Mead and Hunt and Joe Agati from Agati Furniture will tackle these questions and others in: Airport Interiors are Experiencing Massive Change: What You Need to Know.

Airfield Asphalt Pavement Preservation

RECORDED: Thursday December 8th, 2016 at 11:00 am EST

Responsible Asset Management practices combined with an ever-increasing unprecedented pressure on budgets is reshaping the overall approach towards Airport Pavement Management. The industry is proactively assessing processes and systems to safely treat airfield asphalt pavements and pivoting more towards Preservation and Life Extension goals. P-608 Emulsified Asphalt Seal Coat is a new P-Specification released last year.

Asphalt Systems, Inc. (ASI) manufactures GSB-88(r) an emulsified asphalt seal coat that meets the requirements of the P-608 specification. GSB-88(r) has a long, successful history of airfield pavement preservation and mitigating asphalt based FOD. Over the past 20 years, it has been applied to more than 500 airfields, 350 runways including large commercial airports and high performance military facilities.

Our Webinar presenters discuss in depth the details of a P-608 application including;

  • Pre-design pavement evaluations
  • Appropriate pavements for applications
  • Friction requirements
  • Best Practice measures to ensure performance
  • Painting / striping over P-608
  • Nighttime - short application window alternative.

Leveraging Technology Throughout the Airport SMS Lifecycle

RECORDED: Thursday, October 6th - 11:00am EDT

Security checkpoint wait times have been a hot topic in the news lately, creating passengers and inhibit the time they have to shop, dine and explore other airport retail options.

Join us for a free webinar to learn how airports are deploying innovative business intelligence (BI) technology to better understand passenger movement, and using this data to shorten wait times and increase the potential for non-aeronautical revenue.

Also, hear from Orlando International Airport how applying BI has helped them to better measure, manage and shorten wait times, driving efficiency and improving the passenger experience.

This session also includes a question & answer period.

Free Webinar: Optimized Resource Management for Airports – Managing the Physical & Fiscal Constraints

Optimized Resource Management for Airports – Managing the “Physical & Fiscal” Constraints

As airports struggle with the growing demand for air travel and manage more resources via common-use and preferential-use facilities and airlines devolve of exclusive-use facilities, while focusing on cost per emplanements, there exists a number of challenges including facility (physical) contraints and budgetary (fiscal) constraints.  What if there was a way to achieve capacity without costly infrastructure improvements?

In this FREE one-hour webinar, our panel of experts will discuss the benefits of  Airport Optimization from both academic research and air carrier perspectives as well as from the fastest-growing, large-hub U.S. Airport.

Our panel of experts will discuss actual experiences, performance and the results of airport optimization applications from both the planning and real-time management of resources, (Gates/Loading Bridges, Hard Stands, Passenger Hold Rooms, Ticket Counters, and Baggage Claims), during routine and irregular operations.

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System

Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.

In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.

This white paper discusses the hardware deployed, the test results and the annualized expectations for ROI.
