Mexico’s global airline begins capital-to-capital flights in July 2024

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced today that Aeromexico will begin new nonstop service between Mexico City (MEX) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) on July 1, 2024. Flights will operate daily year-round.

“Aeromexico's return adds to Dulles International Airport’s status as the fastest-growing international gateway in the United States,” said Airports Authority Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Chryssa Westerlund. “With the launch of this non-stop route to Mexico City, travelers will enjoy the benefits of capital-to-capital service and convenient connections for business and leisure opportunities.”

With the start of this and other routes, Aeromexico will serve 36 U.S. markets by July 2024. A founding member of the SkyTeam Alliance, Aeromexico has a codeshare agreement with Delta Air Lines for smooth connectivity and customer services on cross-border flights between the U.S. and Mexico.

“In today's increasingly interconnected relationship between Mexico and the U.S., this new flight between Mexico City and Washington Dulles International Airport symbolizes the strengthening of our relationship every day,” said Esteban Moctezuma, Ambassador of Mexico to the United States. “It underscores the interdependency between our two nations, not only in terms of trade and diplomacy but also in the realm of tourism and culture.”
According to the Embassy of Mexico, 33 million Americans visit Mexico each year, while 13 million Mexicans travel to the United States.
