PEACHTREE CITY, GA. (Aug. 11, 2023) – Four vintage aircraft from Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Georgia will be part of National Aviation Day celebrations Aug. 19 at the Heart of Georgia Regional Airport in Eastman, Ga. Franklin D. Roosevelt established the holiday in 1939 with a presidential proclamation that designated the anniversary of Orville Wright's birthday to be National Aviation Day.
Airbase Georgia, based in Peachtree City, Ga., and one of the largest units of the CAF, will be bringing its popular P-51 Mustang, “Red Nose”; its venerable Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless dive bomber; an LT-6 Mosquito and a T-34 Mentor. All four will be available for rides.
“National Aviation Day provides important recognition of the value of aviation in the United States and around the world,” said Airbase Leader Joel Perkins. “We are proud to exhibit our restored warbirds and offer rides that give people an experience of a lifetime.”
