DENVER – Aug. 22, 2023 – Denver International Airport (DEN) CEO, Phil Washington, has been appointed by U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to serve on the Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity (ACTE) under the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). Out of 240 applicants, 24 members were selected to serve on the committee to help inform the Secretary on best practices to institutionalize equity into U.S. Department of Transportation programs, policies, regulations, and activities; Strengthen and establish partnerships with overburdened and underserved communities; Offer a forum for coordination and the exchange of information on equity concerns raised in local and regional transportation decisions; and provide added strength, objectivity and confidence to management’s decision-making process.
This appointment reflects Washington's dedication to promoting accessibility, inclusivity and equity within the transportation sector. As a prominent leader with a wealth of experience in the field, his contribution to the committee is anticipated to shape policies that ensure fair and equitable transportation for all.
Under Washington's visionary leadership, DEN has consistently prioritized innovation, sustainability, and accessibility. His extensive experience in leading large-scale transportation projects, coupled with his passion for social equity, makes him a valuable addition to the ACTE.
