Fresno, CA (May 4, 2016) – Fresno Yosemite International Airport is experiencing an unprecedented surge in passenger growth in 2016 due to added flights and increased seat capacity. The airlines are increasing flight frequencies on existing routes and transitioning to larger aircraft to meet the air service demand from Fresno Yosemite International Airport.
The upward trend began in the first quarter of 2016 with a total of 336,482 passengers traveling through the airport, an 11.3 percent increase over 2015. Recently scheduled frequencies contributing to the surge in seat capacity represent an additional 24 weekly departures from Fresno Yosemite International Airport. Airlines increasing service on existing routes include Alaska Airlines to Portland and San Diego, American Airlines to Los Angeles, United Airlines to Denver and San Francisco, and Allegiant’s new service to Phoenix-Mesa. Capacity generated by these added flights has resulted in a 17.1 percent increase in available seats leading into the summer season compared to last year. Available seat capacity will continue to grow over summer with Aeromexico and Volaris adding frequency to Guadalajara, Mexico.
Airline shifts to larger aircraft will enhance capacity to major airport hubs such as Dallas Fort Worth. American Airlines will transition to a 737-8 aircraft from the MD80 series in early May. The 737-8 aircraft will accommodate an extra 20 passengers on the airline’s twice daily service from Fresno to Dallas, Texas.
"The additional seat capacity is a direct service enhancement and we commend our airline partners for recognizing the air service opportunities in our regional market," said Director of Aviation Kevin Meikle. "It is highly unusual for an airport of our size to gain a great number of seats and flights from multiple airline operators when compared to historic trends."
Fresno Yosemite International Airport is a significant regional transportation center serving travelers throughout the Central Valley and its aviation activities provide a substantial employment base. Additional flights and travel options this year will continue to further the airport’s role as an engine of economic growth for the region.
With record passenger numbers expected to continue throughout the summer, travelers are encouraged to arrive two hours prior to domestic flights and three hours for international flights to allow for sufficient time to get through the airline check-in process and security screening.
Fresno Yosemite International Airport currently offers Valley passengers daily non-stop flights to Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Guadalajara, Mexico on domestic and international carriers. Fresno Yosemite International Airport is a municipally owned entity operating as a self-supporting enterprise. No City of Fresno general funds are used to operate Fresno Yosemite International Airport or Fresno Chandler Executive Airport.

PAVIX: Proven Winner for All Airport Concrete Infrastructure
International Chem-Crete Corporation (ICC) manufactures and sells PAVIX, a unique line of crystalline waterproofing products that penetrate into the surface of cured concrete to fill and seal pores and capillary voids, creating a long lasting protective zone within the concrete substrate.
Once concrete is treated, water is prevented from penetrating through this protective zone and causing associated damage, such as freeze-thaw cracking, reinforcing steel corrosion, chloride ion penetration, and ASR related cracking.
This white paper discusses how the PAVIX CCC100 technology works and its applications.
