SEATTLE – The Port of Seattle welcomes the announcement that Aeromexico will begin service from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Mexico City beginning November 1, 2017. The daily nonstop flight will be on a 160-seat Boeing 737-800 airplane and will feature Clase Premier, AM Plus, and coach seating. Aeromexico serves more than 80 cities on three continents, including 44 destinations in Mexico, 19 in the United States, 15 in Latin America, four in Canada, four in Europe, and three in Asia.
“The Port of Seattle is thrilled to offer another nonstop international destination,” said Port of Seattle Commissioner John Creighton. “Washington state and Mexico are culturally connected in so many ways. Mexico City is a Latin American gateway and a vital economic hub to our state, so this new service offers extraordinary opportunities for strengthening ties between us and great value and convenience to the traveling public.”
Aeromexico’s Mexico City service joins Munich and Cologne Germany; Shenzhen, China; and Guadalajara, Mexico as the fifth new nonstop international destination to be announced at Sea-Tac since 2016. Mexico City becomes the airport’s 25th nonstop international destination.
“Today’s announcement of a new direct flight from Mexico City into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is an important step toward maintaining our competitive edge in the growing global economy,” said Washington Gov. Jay Inslee. “During my recent trade mission to Mexico, it was clear that connectivity is key. Being able to move products and people across our border helps us our grow our agriculture industry, collaborate on clean energy technologies of the future, and so much more. This is an exciting next step in strengthening our relationship with Mexico.”
Sea-Tac has set annual passenger records for the past six years, totaling 45.7 million in 2016 - 3.4 million more passengers than in 2015. The 8 percent passenger growth rate is Sea-Tac’s second largest in the past 20 years, only topped by 2015’s 12.9 percent increase. Sea-Tac is the fastest growing large hub airport in the U.S. and is the 9th busiest based on total passengers for the past three years.

Throughout 2022, while recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued our efforts to have a positive impact on the Charlotte community.
