Happy Anniversary

No airport's project work is ever complete (and I'm not talking about change orders here). Fluctuating passenger numbers and obsolescence dictate this. And fortunately, people are never tapped out of good ideas either. These truths were instrumental in the creation of Airport Improvement magazine.

There are an incredible number of great projects taking place at airports. The challenge we face is not finding worthy stories to bring you, but rather winnowing down the huge inventory of projects without missing the spectacular.

With this May/June issue, we celebrate the start of our second year. Thank you. Your input, support and sharing of ideas have made this publication the success it is today. And it is successful. How's that, you say?

It's based on an incredible number of subscription requests ... based on the huge backlog of airport project story ideas submitted by you, the airports, consultants and vendors ... based on our incredible advertisers who find that we're giving them highly targeted access and exposure. And yes, it's based on the fact that monthly traffic at our website, airportimprovement.com, recently surpassed the number of subscribers to our printed product.

As mentioned, the type of positive growth going on with Airport Improvement is reflective of the many changes seen in the industry. Sometimes these changes involve valued team members. Lately, the sheer volume of people moving from one airport or company to the next is staggering. It may not always be easy to make the change, but the reward can be worth it.

I was happy to see that Phil Agee is now with URS Corporation's Air Transportation Business Line as senior business development manager. He not only has an incredible list of accomplishments, but he's truly a first-class guy. Congratulations Phil.
